AI in Education and Sports

My group's (group 1) presentation was about how AI can impact education and sports. AI, or Artificial Intelligence, refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines programmed to
think and learn like humans. It encompasses a broad range of technologies and techniques that enable machines to perform tasks that typically require human intelligence. These tasks include problem-solving, understanding natural language, speech recognition, visual perception, learning, and decision-making. The research included, whether AI can impact education and sports in a good or bad way. Of course, like everything in the world, there are pros and there are cons to AI. A pro to AI in education is that it
can make education more accessible by providing tools for students with disabilities. It can assist with text-to-speech, speech-to-text, and other accessibility features to accommodate diverse learning needs. There is the con of excessive reliance on AI in education, which could hinder students' ability to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills and their adaptability to real-world situations that may not involve AI. AI in sports has teams now using wearable technology to track player movement and collect data on their physical exertion during games and practices. Gustavo Montilla mentioned VAR systems in his part of the presentation, which I found very interesting. VAR is a technology that assists on-field referees in making more accurate decisions during a match. It involves the use of video footage and a team of officials who review key decisions, such as goals, penalties, and red cards, to ensure the correct outcome. VAR is aimed at reducing errors and improving the overall fairness of the game. I even discussed it with my younger brother- a huge soccer fan.

AI in Economy and Mental Health

Group 2 had the topics of economy and mental health. Mental health has never been taken too seriously. Some people will tell you to suck it up, and for men to "man up." After hearing those words, some may be embarrassed and will not seek help. AI can be helpful in that particular situation. Virtual therapists and chatbots powered by AI provide accessible and scalable mental health support. These tools engage users in conversations, offer coping strategies, and provide information about mental health conditions. The 24/7 availability of virtual support can help overcome barriers to seeking help, and the anonymity provided by technology can reduce the stigma associated with mental health issues. AI is also playing a transformative role in the field of mental health, offering innovative solutions to improve assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and support services. One notable application is in the early detection and diagnosis of mental health conditions. AI algorithms analyze behavioral and linguistic patterns in data, enabling the identification of subtle signs indicative of conditions like depression or anxiety. This early detection can facilitate timely interventions, potentially improving outcomes for individuals. While group 2 mentioned the pros of AI in mental health, they also mentioned the negative impacts of it. For example, the use of AI in mental health raises ethical questions related to privacy, consent, and data security. AI systems often rely on sensitive personal information, and ensuring the confidentiality and security of this data is crucial to maintaining trust between individuals and mental health providers. Mental health is not something that should be pushed to the side. Whether it be AI, people should address the way they are feeling. Group 2 also gave good information on the impact AI can have on the government and the economy. They expressed the fear people have of AI taking jobs from humans. According to statistics, stated by World Economic Forum AI will take away 85 million jobs globally by 2025 and generate 97 million new jobs. This raises questions about the need for reskilling and upskilling the workforce to adapt to the changing demands of the job market. Moreover, ethical considerations such as algorithmic bias, data privacy, and the responsible use of AI technologies need careful attention to ensure that the benefits of AI are harnessed without compromising fairness, privacy, and the well-being of individuals in the economic landscape. Striking a balance between leveraging the advantages of AI and addressing its potential downsides is essential for a sustainable and inclusive economic integration of AI technologies.

AI in Social Life and Potential Careers
Group 3 chose the topics of social life and potential careers. There was a lot of information on the potential careers with AI. For example, AI can write scripts for movies or TV shows. It was shown that AI is not able to completely replace a human. In the presentation, there was a quote given by OpenAI's company founder, Greg Brockman. Brockman said, "AI is just an amplification of what
humans can do." Meaning AI is not something to completely depend on. Another thing people are upset about is the people making music with AI. Singers' voices are being used to create other songs or as covers of other songs. Just recently, someone on TikTok made a song using Bad Bunny's voice. Some people even thought the song was real.
AI-driven chatbots and virtual assistants contribute to the fabric of social interactions by providing instantaneous responses and support in various contexts. From customer service interactions to personal organization tasks, these AI tools streamline communication processes, offering convenience and efficiency. Additionally, AI facilitates language translation, breaking down language barriers and fostering cross-cultural connections in an increasingly globalized social landscape. While these advancements enhance accessibility and connectivity, the ethical use of AI in social life requires ongoing consideration of issues such as privacy, security, and the potential impact on human relationships. As AI technologies continue to evolve, their influence on social dynamics will likely deepen, prompting ongoing discussions about responsible integration and the societal implications of these advancements.
Overall, I think everyone did an amazing job with their presentations. I gained a lot of information about AI this past week. Although there was a bit of a struggle with the recording of our class presentation, I'm glad we got to get it done. What I learned from all of these presentations combined, was while there are benefits to AI, there can also be drawbacks. Nothing can compare to the humans that work together and learn from each other.

Group 1       For this presentation, the group that I am in, group 1, was tasked with presenting on the topic of AI in both education and sports, and whether or not it has proven to be a benefit or negative to both fields.. Since our group has 11 people, we decided to split the work by having six of us work on the topic of education, and the five others working on sports. We decided to organize our presentation by first showing how AI is used in education, and the positive and negative effects it has had on the field. We talked about how AI has allowed for students to be more connected with their working, aiding during the pandemic to make remote learning easier for both students and teachers, while also talking about some of the problems like privacy issues AI may have. We also discussed how Florida was handling the use of AI, with the use of modern technologies being endorsed by the government, while also being monitored with the regard that it may be used as a t...

BLOG #2- GROUP 1- ESTEPHANIE FARACH

Artificial intelligence leverages computers and machines to mimic the problem solving and decision making capabilities of the human mind. We had three groups do fantastic presentations on Artificial intelligence and how they are affecting or changing different topics for the better or for the worse.  The first group that presented was group three. This group was assigned to speak about Artificial intelligence in social life, entertainment, and potential careers. I learned during this presentation that some people are all for the upcoming changes while some others are not. Artificial intelligence is starting to become more involved in all categories, In social life and entertainment including television and writers AI generative systems are predicted to write scripts for TV shows. These systems will be able to generate actors and add diversity and very realistic imagery. There are some advantages and disadvantages, for example it generates almost instantly and for a fraction of the ...

Reflecting on the group's presentation Reflecting on Group 1's presentation Reflecting on Group 1's presentation on  integrating artificial intelligence in education and sports, I must  deeply appreciate  the insightful exploration of its influence over the past five years. The advancements in educational technology, especially the development of intelligent tutoring systems and AI-facilitated administrative tasks, have enhanced the learning experience.  Undoubtedly, artificial intelligence has been a game-changer in educational settings, introducing intelligent tutoring systems that have markedly improved student engagement and motivation. These systems represent a leap forward from conventional educational approaches, offering tailored learning experiences to students.  Over the previous five years, my observation s affirm AI's evolution from a conceptual novelty to an effective pedagogical instrument within classrooms. However, the recent presentatio...
